First Time Doing a Video Guestbook and I’m Obsessed

Jumping Into My First Video Guestbook

I was so excited to be doing a video guestbook for the first time this past Saturday! As soon as we arrived at the venue, we set up the little corner that would become the guestbook station. Lights, camera, tripod, a mic for guests to hold so the audio would be crystal clear, and a custom sign I designed all came together to create a welcoming little corner. My boyfriend acted as my second shooter, staying nearby to guide guests, help them feel comfortable, and hit record while I focused on capturing all the other moments of the day.

Guests Stealing the Show

Watching guests interact with the station was the absolute best part. Everyone’s messages were so fun and sweet. Guests shared their love for the couple, and offered classic advice like “happy wife, happy life” and “don’t go to bed angry.” My personal favorite was “keep God in everything,” so heartfelt and so true.

Of course, there were hilarious, unexpected moments too. One guest recreated the Disney Channel transitions with the classic “and you’re watching Disney Channel” line. It was so creative and playful, and moments like that made the whole experience special.

Behind the Scenes

My boyfriend was such a huge help throughout the day. Beyond assisting with the guestbook, he captured moments on my phone for Instagram stories, helped mic the groom while I mic’d the bride just before their first look, and generally kept everything running smoothly. For the guestbook, he stayed by the station, capturing each guest as they stopped by, making sure nothing was missed.

Editing It All Together

When I sat down to edit, it felt like creating a time capsule. All the laughter, heartfelt advice, and playful moments came together in a keepsake that was far more meaningful than just another wedding video. Seeing everyone’s personalities captured on camera made me smile the whole way through.

Lesson Learned

One thing I’ll definitely do next time is bring a notepad and pen to track each guest’s message. With so many participants, it’s a simple step that makes post-production much easier.

Why You Should Consider It

If you’re planning your wedding and thinking about a video guestbook, I can’t recommend it enough. It’s fun, interactive, and a beautiful way to involve all your loved ones. If you’re adding a flash drive of your wedding footage, this is an incredible addition, capturing voices, laughter, and memories that you’ll treasure forever. I’m already looking forward to the next one!!
